More than Imagined Getaway is a fun-filled weekend designed to provide rest and renewal for families affected by disability. At the heart of the Retreat is the loving service and friendship provided by Short-Term Missionaries or “STMs”.
STMs are individually assigned to a family that has a member with a disability. The job of an STM is to spend the week serving this family to the best of his or her ability. The STM will be partnered with a specific child or adult having a disability, and will help them throughout the weekend as needed.
Examples include:
· Accompanying them to their age-specific program
· Assisting them in their program (crafts, singing, dancing, writing)
· Joining them for meals and helping in any way needed
This is an opportunity for individuals, families, and church groups to experience a life-changing mission program while staying close to home at the beautiful Kettunen Retreat Center. The relationships that are built at Family Retreat are never forgotten!
Required Skills:
A willingness to show the love of Jesus, to be a friend, share their lives, and act as an extension of Christ. Must be 16 years of age or older.
